Is a memory foam mattress supposed to be firm?
This may sound like a silly question, but I just purchased a memory foam mattress. It's 12 inches high. The reviews were excellent and so I purchased it in a king size. I also put on a 2 Inch Memory Foam mattress topper that I already had. I took a nap on it today for the first time and honestly I was a bit surprised, it didn't feel as though I was "sleeping on a cloud". Is this normal?? I don't want to send it back simply because it's too firm, if anything I would think that would help your back/muscles.
There's usually a level of firmness or plushness to choose from...I don't know what brand you purchased, though. When I purchased mine a few years ago, I wanted a little more plush feel in combination with the firm support, so I got a plush, down-like topper. It was perfect!!! I'd say (1) find out if you have a 30 day "trial" period. (2) take off your Memory Foam Topper, as it could be affecting the feel (3) get a plush down topper & see how that works (4) if you still don't like it in 30 days & you have a trial period, contact your store (5) if you still are unhappy, hope it breaks in a bit...mine did...it took a little while to get used to the different feel from an innerspring mattress, so I hope all turns out well.
