Help--what baby bird is this ? (and other questions) Phoenix AZ?
We found a baby bird, still half in his egg on the ground. Since a large dog occupied the yard, it was unsafe to leave the little guy there. I suspect he (or she) is a dove, but will post a picture if anyone can help identify.
Fast-forward: Baby is now 15 days old and doing well, having been fed Kaytee Exact hand-feeding formula ( just began adding hard-boiled egg yolk or softened dog food to Kaytee formula 2 of his 5 feedings daily). He's been living in a thick coffee filter nest in a shoebox with a heating pad set to low; a layer of towel in between.
Should seed be introduced to his/her diet and when?
When should he/she be moved from the shoebox to a cage? He's been flapping his wings for two days, but is virtually featherless except for wings.
Also, he seems to have his right wing and foot splayed out, and his left side tucked in more and inactive. Would there be any reasons why?
thank you!!

To me he kinda looks like a baby grackle:

I'm looking online and it's a bit hard to find pet info for grackles, but I am seeing that they're similar to crows. So, here is some info on taking care of baby crows:

I hope this helped!
