Can you use a heating pad when pregnant?
We just found out we are expecting #2! And we just got finished getting the bed ready for winter, flannel sheets, heated mattress pad, and heated blanket. Do we need to take the heating things off? I read you couldn't use a heating pad while pregnant due to electrical impulses being dangerous to the unborn baby. I didn't use anything like that during pregnancy #1. I will ask the doctor, but until then, just wondering if anyone else has heard the same thing?
It's not just the electromagnetic fields that doctors are worried about, but the risk of overheating which can cause huge problems for a fetus. I'd suggest warming up the bed with the heating blanket 10 minutes before getting in but turning it completely off before climbing in (same with the heating pad if the blanket doesn't warm up the bed enough). This time of year it's nice to climb into a warm bed, but don't climb into a bed when anything is still on.
